چکیده
The underlying research work was focused on one of the standard k-means issue ofinitial centroid selection. An average based approach used for avoiding random clusterinitialization. experiments this study showed that results obtained with proposed methodwere better and consistent. It concluded method had less classification error, reduced total number iterations took execution time than initialization method.

Novel centroid selection approaches for KMeans-clustering based recommender systems
Recommender systems have the ability to filter unseen information for predicting whether a particular user would prefer a given item when making a choice. Over the years, this process has been dependent on robust applications of data mining and machine learning techniques, which are known to have scalability issues when being applied for recommender systems. In this paper, we propose a k-means ...
متن کاملFast SFFS-Based Algorithm for Feature Selection in Biomedical Datasets
Biomedical datasets usually include a large number of features relative to the number of samples. However, some data dimensions may be less relevant or even irrelevant to the output class. Selection of an optimal subset of features is critical, not only to reduce the processing cost but also to improve the classification results. To this end, this paper presents a hybrid method of filter and wr...
متن کاملA New Approach for Image Segmentation using Pillar-Kmeans Algorithm
This paper presents a new approach for image segmentation by applying Pillar-Kmeans algorithm. This segmentation process includes a new mechanism for clustering the elements of high-resolution images in order to improve precision and reduce computation time. The system applies K-means clustering to the image segmentation after optimized by Pillar Algorithm. The Pillar algorithm considers the pi...
متن کاملAn MCDM-DEA approach for technology selection
Technology selection is an important part of management of technology. Recently Karsak and Ahiska (2005) proposed a novel common weight multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) methodology for selection of the best Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) candidates based on a number of attributes. However, Amin et al. (2006), by means of a numerical example demonstrated the convergence difficul...
متن کاملAnalysis of Average Weight Based Centroid Localization Algorithm for Mobile Wireless Sensor Networks
Localization is one of the major technologies in wireless sensor networks. Utilizing mobile beacons has made localization, cost effective. Localization methods using a single beacon bring about co-linearity problem resulting in poor performance. This paper proposes Average Weight Based Centroid Localization (AWBCL) algorithm. The analysis carried out shows that the proposed algorithm has greate...
